Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team reach areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.

Audiences can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
