Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important official said the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
